DDI what is it

Hi Expert(s),

I got a question about DDI, I remembered that it had something to do with "Distributed Data Interface",
but I can't find good information about it, please can someone point me to the right direction (or manual).
Especialy the What is DDI, not how to configure it.

A Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI) is an optical fiber-based local area network (LAN) that uses the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) 3T9.5 standard for a media access control (MAC) protocol of token ring.

In FDDI networks, devices such as stations, concentrators, and bridges are physically connected to one or both of the counter-rotating rings. Typically, only the primary ring in an FDDI network is active. The secondary ring is used to maintain the network when a dual-access station or a concentrator becomes inactive. The rings operate at 100 Mbps.

So basically from my understanding, it's a token ring network. Not really used nowadays.

Thanks Alex, that is what I already thought.
Old stuff, but still configuratabel on the iSeries.
(even without TokenRing, so I think it would be some kind of emulation)
I'd agree with that assumption.

Pleased I could help :-)

Alex
