Unable to install antivirus in Windows 10
I have Windows 10 machine. I have downloaded Kaspersky Internet security 2019 from is official site. I am trying to install it by double clicking it but it gives message "ย Start main dialog failed". I try downloading installer again but still it gives the same error.

Your help is highly appreciated.

two things to try at first.

1. use a SHA or MD5 checksum utility to compare the two copies of your Kaspersky installer, make sure the two downloaded files are identical.

2. make sure to run the installer with administrative privileges. just right-click the installer and see the options.

Hi bbao, The two files are identical and even running with admin privileges gives same error.

currently no antivirus in the system. It has default Windows defender antivirus

Did you disable Windows Defender before trying the installer? Have you any utilities that start on boot? ย Try installing with a clean boot and Defender disabled to minimize potential conflict and remember to run the installer with Administrator privileges. Also check for version compatibility eg installing 64 bit version on a 32 bit Windows will cause errors.

It is installing at the moment. The installer file size I get is 2,61 MB (2.738.400 Bytes). And it is downloading by installation another 175.3MB
Can you post a screenshot of the error message you get?
As alternative please activate or inbuilt Administrator account on the system, login under it and try to install there.

is this a standalone system? ย for my separate customers, i don't install an AV - only Defender for a couple of years now
i haved seen no problems yet

Usually Windows error message does not look like this. Neither does Kaspersky error message look like this.
Please activate your system administrator and try to install the av in it. You can activate it via commandline.
