Hardware ECC Recovered = 1
Anyone else having issues with Seagate HDDs?  The computers on day 1 will have terrible performance ups and downs.  File corruption and random errors running any program.  Working with Dell to get to the bottom of this, we found that the Hardware ECC recovered current will at 1 while the performance issues exist, and rise to 40-60 when working normally.  Upon cloning to another brand of HDD and running CHKDSK, it will result in a proper working system with no performance problems.  We have been studying this for months, and have seen this in 100% of Seagate drives installed since April 2019.

"Working with Dell to get to the bottom of this"
Maybe working with Seagate would be a better tactic.

Presumably this is a Dell system and the hard drives were installed by them.   Did Dell have any other feedback about the drives?

What does "we found that the Hardware ECC recovered current will at 1 while the performance issues exist" mean?

No firmware found for this serial number z994bqch according to Seagate's website, That suggests it is OEM.

Surprised Dell have not told you to update it though since they have newer firmware than you have installed.

They are all Dell systems.  Yes OEM drives.  Never has firmware been mentioned.  Where would I get this firmware?

Oh, my bad, just looked again and I must have typed the model number in wrongly. Does not look like there is new firmware for it.

You shouldn't be getting any CRC corrected errors though, do you see them with seatools?

I just ran SeaTools for Windows on one, and the drive isn't even detected.  Ran it on a computer connected via external SATA dock and same thing.  Will try USB next.  Any non Seagate drives show up, even if connect USB drives.  Where is the Seagate HDD?  Just downloaded and installed SeaTools latest version from Seagate website.

Detected under USB dock.  However it took about 4 minutes to discover USB device.  Any other USB device is instantly shown.

It sounds like you got a bad batch.  Surely they can be RMAed?
