Using VS 2012 Professional.  Can't build a winforms application.

Receiving error:  "Couldn't process file xxxx.resx due to its being in the Internet or Restricted zone or having the mark of the web on the file.  Remove the mark of the web if you want to process these files".

I tried adding to the local intranet -> file://computername like example below but didn't work.  I also tried to right click, properties, but there was NO unblock checkbox.

Any idea how to resolve.  This is a production problem for me.

If you right click the file and choose properties (in the file explorer) is there an option to "unblock"?

Author

Commented:
No.  There is no "unblock" in properties or advance.  Only "Read-only" and "Hidden"

Is your solution hosted on a network drive?

If your solution is hosted on a network drive, try moving it locally to see if you can build it.  Otherwise, make a copy of your resx file and then open it in Notepad++.  You want to find and remove any nodes which start with ".  Save the file and reload/reopen your solution.  Try and build again.

Yes, it is on a Network drive.  I never had problems until this week with it.  Will try both recommendations and report results.  Thanks

Don't know if this matters Sage but the server that the project is installed on is  a VM and running Win 7.

Like I said, no issues last week.  It started this week.  Tried upgrading Powershell as it is using version 2 but that didn't work even though the install was successful.

Sage,

Copying it to the C Drive worked.  Do you know why on the network drive it didn't work?

I didn't modify the resx file.

Thanks

Without knowing the exact layout of your network and the security in place, it's hard to say.  But when you tried to add "file://computername" to you local intranet zone, did you add the Win7 name or the VM name?

Commented:
I went to cmd prompt and typed hostname.  So I added file://hostname

Commented:
You need to add the hostname of the VM to your local intranet zone, not your own hostname.

Copying it to the local drive resolved the issue.
