Oh, I see, it's not like chrome where u place an argument in front of the executable.

My question is more directed to encrypted DNS, so when u say " IOS is pretty locked down",  u mean IOS already has DNS encrypted ? What did u mean by that?

well, 2 questions,

1. found the apps for IOS iPhone but it requests my iPhone password to create the VPN - can I setup VPN directly on the iPhone without giving the password to cloudflare?

2, u mention "or just use firefox on your device." - I download firefox in my iPhone but tested the DoH and it says "No" - what am I missing to setup firefox for DoH?

I see, but I find it strange that it would ask for the iPhone password.  The screen asking the password is even different from iPhone.  I went straight to creating a VPN and no password was asked (I took a vid so u can see).

what don’t think?
a link to the vid would be nice

You see, when creating a VPN, the process doesn't request password to iPhone.
there is a difference when an app tries to do it.. try other vpn's i.e. proxpn, private internet access (PIA) if they have an app it will ask for authorization

understood.  Don't if u saw my vid, but, if u know, can I setup the VPN without the apps?
who do you want to be your connection to the internet? look around for a vpn vendor

No, maybe I am explaining wrong.  On you recommended link u recommended cloudflare apps for my iPhone so I can enable DoH.  When I downloaded and started the install process, it requested the iPhone password for the supposedly VPN it needs to create.  Since the iphone vpa creation doesn't require a password, my questions was can I create the vpn separately from the cloudflare apps then install the apps?

vpn services have become quite cheap over the years... <$5USD/month for 3 devices.

Hi Eoin,

I already have Cloudflare secured DNS, that was easy; just enter 1.1.1.1.1.  What I didn't get was that "Most of the VPN service providers will require you to configure the VPN via their apps for the same reason" - I haven't installed one in my mobile devices (so I thought it was only cloudflare doing it).  I have installed VPN (fortinet specifically).  Looking at my mobile fortinet install (downloaded from apple store for testing the authentication), it also ask for iPhone password... so this standardized stuff then.

I guess my best bet, being this my concern, is having a Two-factor authentication for Apple ID.

Ok Guys, thank u very much!
(thanx David for your input but my point was with cloudflare)
