asked on

The database has been placed in a state by user "admin" on machine .... error that is just causing problems in my Access database.

I double clicked on my database that is split.  It asks me a password and i am successful with that.  It then loads and when I go to copy an object in it gives me a "The database has been placed in a state by user"Admin" on machine.....

I click on ok and close the database it then has another database open behind it even though I did not open it.  Password does not work on that one then it is closed.  What can I do?

You didn't say if it's the same front-end database file, the back-end file, or a different one altogether.

Try right-clicking on the file name and click on "Open" and see if the same thing happens.  Double-clicking can be tricky depending on how sensitive your mouse and computer are to mouse clicks.

If you don't have a problem with right-click-open, then the problem is in your computer's handling of double mouse clicks.
Are your FE and BE databases on local hard drive or on some file share?

Beware of Microsoft updates.  I've experienced problems at a client site where the setting I just mentioned was reset by multiple Microsoft service patches.
