Different data results
A customer has a 5 pc network with a peer-to-peer server. Of the four workstations one of the computers began to get a different set of results from the purchase order module. I ran tests on this pc including hard drive, motherboard, network adapter, and o/s. I have found no problems. The computer was removed and connected to several different computers running the software with a variety of results. I installed a different network adapter with no change in this scenario. I finally installed a temp computer and the issue is resolved. This can be the solution but I would like to find out what happened. What else could be the problem?
you said "different set of results from the purchase order module" but in order to hel, we need screenshots of what exactly you mean by this
purchase module in what software? Access?

No, SiriusGT Accounting that is written in AcuCobol. The program shows all users the same list of po's. But starting last month this one computer began to 'see' po's differently. When a user needs to issue a po the program provides the next sequential number. If there are 4 users each one could give a po and the po's would be sequential. The computer in question saw all of the po's given before the 1st week of Sept and after that only the ones generated on that pc. The other 3 saw all po's given before the 1st week of Sept and the po's generated by the 3 users after that. Database tools were run with no change. I swapped the server, no change. I ran a host of tests on the pc with no failures. I swapped network cards, no change. When I swapped the pc they all began to have the same data again. My assumption is that this is a network issue but I never found any problems. It obviously was associated with that pc but I would like to find out what it was.

sounds like somebody switched on a filter, maybe a filter hat only showed po's generated on that machine

@Nobus, good idea!
@Gerald, explain the filter comment.

The program doesn't have "filters" that can be turned on or off.
Maybe a config file?

I think I may have found the problem this afternoon. @nobus had made a suggestion and I was about to try it when I noticed the server was connected to the workstation, which isn't possible because the server isn't here. The user had synced to her computer the folder on the server where the program resides. I was able to open the program. This is what I have been looking at. This is the wrong data set. I am planning to go prove this tomorrow.
that's nice to hear - post results

That didn't fix the problem. The customer has opted for a replacement pc so I won't find out what specifically happened.
