Cannot Connect to Remote Printer Through VPN

I'm trying to manually add a remote printer from one our branch offices to my Windows 10 computer over VPN.

I can both Ping the printer and as well as login to the printers Built-in web interface via Chrome browser.

My issue is that the add printers wizard does not find the printer. I am using the option "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address" and I input the valid IP.  The wizard tries to connect by Querying the printer but gets no response. I don't understand.User generated image

The find printer wizard tries to find printer based on:
1) SSDP Multicast from the printer  (announcing hardware)
2) MDNS multicast from printer (announcing services)
3) probing  the addresses in the LAN... for a specific port a VPN network is beyond the LAN.
(normally up to 253 adresses to be probed).

If a specific address is given it should be able to test for specific printers though. For HP printers (and many compatibles / competitors)  port 9100 is most commonly used, is that allowed on all firewalls?
When the wizard cannot detect the printer when creating a Standard TCP/IP port, just select Generic Port. Then either use Standard > Generic Network Card or Custom and accept either the defaults, or tick LPR and type in the Queue name. Most modern printers will accept just about anything for the name, so use something like "Print" or "Raw".
one thing to try is to use a browser to access the printer to confirm you are going to the right ip.
If the printer is connected to a print server, why not add the printer through the print server?
