asked on

scheduled shut-down for APC UPS

There is a scheduled power-outage in my area.   If I schedule a shutdown on my APC Smart-UPS SRT 5000, (9600 network card2) to shutdown in 5 minutes,  will it wake when the power is restored?

When I shutdown the UPS, will it shutdown immediately? do I have a window of time to shutdown switches, and firewall after I shutdown the UPS?.
if you schedule a shutdown you have to shutdown the other stuff before it shuts down or they will experience a sudden power loss.

I want to schedule a shutdown, shutdown the other stuff, have the UPS shutdown after.  Then, when the outage is over, have the UPS wake on power restore.  (all of the other devices will wake on power restore after they have been gracefully shutdown).  Is this possible?
the ups will shutdown automatically if all devices have been shutdown.

Why do you want to shut the UPS down? Normally you let the UPS shut the kit down and power off its outputs but you don't shut the whole thing down.

"(you need you systems configured to return to previous power setting otherwise they will not start when power returns). "

Previous power setting is off since the UPS shut it down, but there will be a BIOS setting to power on automatically when power is applied.
@andy... yep you're Correct...
