Restore files from $RECYCLE. BIN folder running windows 7

My friend tried to move data from D Drive (Unsupported_drive running windows 7 ) he selected all files and click on CUT  then past them into USB Flash drive .
Look like copied most of the data, but not all files, but when you run CMD and dir /s you can see all files still on D drive.

I have followed the below instruction, my question, please is how can I restore these data in this file call recycle.BIN is any way to restore the data .
1)      In Explorer, click Organize in ToolBar|click "Folder and Search Options"|View|uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"|Yes|Apply|OK.
2) And if not already done, under "Hidden Files and Folders", check "Show hidden files, folders,..." and uncheck "Don't show hidden files, folders...".
Also, I have attached a screen shot with the size of the recycle bin file.
Thank you in advance

Is D Drive (Unsupported_drive running windows 7) a local drive, not a removable drive?

You need data recovery tool like GetDataBack Pro to do a raw scan of the removable drive.

Hi Jackie ,

sorry , D drive is a local drive on different partition .

in command line after I typed dir /s d:\$recycle.bin> F:\backup.txt  I can see sll files , name  and size .

is any other easy way to restore then using GetDataBack  . I will try to download it from home and test it .

is this Tool is free ?
Not sure I understand, if you open the recyclebin select all right-click select restore

Was the amount of data larger than the available space on the USB?
Cut/paste =move if successful
Best copy
If all done delete.
if you select recyclebin in windows does not restore any thing is empty .

there are enough free space on USB to copy the data .

best is copy agree with you .
I have copied all the $recycle.bin folder on my USB to assist my user

I have attached the screen shot , please have a look ,
Getdataback or use test-disk but no matter what you use, make sure to limit what is written to drive D and restore data if found to a different destination to avoid writing recovered data to space that might be occupied by the data you are trying to restore.

Usually, cut/paste if fails, doing the undo should reverse the process.

Test-disk is free, but takes ..
Getdataback is a good tool, but is not free.
The first will list what it can recover but you'll need to buy to actually recover.
please tell us what you mean with     (Unsupported_drive running windows 7 )  ?
when or where does that appear ?
Run the following command in an elevated command prompt and post back what do you see.

cd D:\$Recycle.Bin\
after I typed you CMD "cd f:\backup\$Recycle.Bin\"
got to the folder but if I type dir no files visible if I type dir /a got the below  .

so far so good .

thank you so much for your help .

I will check with the user tomorrow and let you know ..
COPY is a DOS command and I have forgotten about it.

Try to copy a few files first.

If the files are not corrupted, you can try to add /s at the end of the command syntax.
Happy to hear GetDataBack is still around, used it on an IDE drive 5400 RPM, way back when, it recovered 129% of my data on a Drive a Tech told me it was useless to attempt (the drive would not always spin). That was before 7200 RPM HDDs, Flash Drives, SSD's, and M.2 drives, It retrieved all of the OS, and save data, and most programs, the only thing affected was a program I rarely used. Then I had to go back in and re-delete recovered files I had deleted well before the Drive crashed and no longer needed them.

I quickly learned to 'copy' & paste before deleting, instead of 'cut' & paste, in fact, I do not use cut and paste any longer, once I've confirmed the copy and paste, then I go back and delete the copied files.

Just to be sure of a few things, 1st Look to see if you have a System Restore Point, and see if there's a recent date you feel comfortable with, you can get your files back if it was before the Cut and Delete, but not so old that it will remove anything you have created or installed (that is if you even do have a Restore Point). If they are there and you just cannot see them, make sure you have the box checked to Show Hidden Folders, you can also change settings to Show Hidden Folders and Files.

Open the Control Panel, click on Folder Options (Win 10 it says File Explorer Options), when the new box opens, choose the Tab - View, there you will see a few boxes down a Folder which is titled "Hidden files and folders", just below that, click the radio button "Show hidden files and folders". Now see if they are there.
i received no answer  - plse take action
