Need guidance regarding RAM on Android tablets

The customer has a Samsung Tab A bought two years ago, and they tell me they often have to uninstall apps because they are running out of memory.  They want me to get them a new Samsung tablet that will not have this problem.  i don't yet know how much RAM theirs has, but in looking at the newest Tab A, one model says it has "32GB internal memory and up to an extra 512GB of expandable memory with external microSD card."  But I am assuming that the SD card only allows them to save large files and such--NOT allowing them to have more apps installed.  Is that true--or does the SD card actually make the OS think it has far more RAM than the internal 32GB?  In other words, will adding an SD card solve their problem, letting them install and run most any number of apps they want?  TIA

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A has 2GB of RAM (2016-2019).  What they are calling memory is available storage space

I am still trying to find out if they have an earlier model that had 16GB storage space and 1.5GB RAM.  So far this weekend all they've told me is "The current Samsung doesn’t have much space so we have to delete certain apps so we can use other ones".

But assuming those are the specs they have, does it sound like they just don't have enough space to store all the apps they want to keep installed?  Or, is it likely that so many apps are running in the background that they are running out of RAM?

If the latter, how would I control what starts up in Android like I do in Windows using msconfig?
