we bought this company - IT integration
Hi experts,
we have bought a new company, lets say we call it GS.
The network part is done.
We have to do the following:
What is the best practice way to do this migration ?
What to do first ?
Do you have some helpful links and examples ?

The network part is done.
We have to do the following:
- Setup an AD trust with the new company GS -> 2-way selective.
- The users of GS should use our Exchange server, but until now they have their own Exchange server and mailbox.
- The users of GS should get our new email addresses.
- The users of GS should be edited with new group membership.

I'm agree with Pete
Forest consolidation can be done with ADMT (Free tool from Microsoft) or third-party tools (eg QUEST, https://www.quest.com/en-us/products/migration-manager-for-active-directory/).
With ADMT, users will keep their profile from the moment you perform the ACL translation.
Be careful though, ACLs are not always added and we can have surprises when removing the SidHistory (this is the case of Outlook profiles for example).
From experience, the difficulty on this kind of project is rarely technical but rather organizational.
Good luck

thanks for the info about ADMT.
But first we like to leave the GS-users in their own domain.
The migration of the user itself will be done later.
Is that ok ?
The setup of AD trust with the new company GS -> 2-way should be enough.

ok, one more question.
The exchange server of GS domain is EX2016.
The exchange server of our domain is EX2013.
Can I make a cross migration of mailboxes from EX2016 to EX2013 ?

What about the tenant ?
Our domain has one and the GS domain has one.
Is it possible to take over a tenant ?

Hello,
I'm not sur that you can cross migration of mailbox Exc2016 to Exc2013 because of the schema. It'll be better to upgrade your envirronment to the highest one (AD, Exc) and then run your cross migration.
Some thing you can try with a test user (IN CASE Forest consolidation is already done)
Convert Exc email to pst
create a mailbox for the tenant test user in your Exc2013
the run the following procedure
