In our case the end user / customer already possesses a paper copy of most of the info available through the app. If he/she chose to share it with a competitor, there is nothing we could do. We just don't want it to be easy for a competitor to walk up at a trade show (or in a customer's shop) and access this material. <br />

How do you license ONLY your customers to use your phone app (iOS, Android).?.

iOS is a mobile operating system developed by Apple; it is a derivative of the Mac OS X desktop operating system, with which it shares many (but not all) common frameworks and other components. These include Cocoa Touch, the Mach/Darwin/XNU kernel and code from the Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD). Each iOS application runs in its own secure sandbox to prevent altering other applications, the operating system, or any other data.

Android is a mobile operating system developed by Google, based on the Linux kernel and designed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Android's user interface is based on direct manipulation, using touch gestures that loosely correspond to real-world actions, such as swiping, tapping and pinching, to manipulate on-screen objects, along with a virtual keyboard for text input. In addition to touchscreen devices, variants of Android are also used on notebooks, game consoles, digital cameras, televisions, automobiles and other electronics. Applications are usually developed in Java programming language using the Android software development kit (SDK), but other development environments are also available, including Delphi, Ruby and Visual Studio (using C++).
