Unable to authenticate through OAUTH - ONE computer on network

Hello.

I have multiple computers on a NON-domain network.

Some computers are Windows 10 some are Windows 7.

ALL computers, but one, can access the Comcast login page, and this is a recent problem.

Nothing appears out of the ordinary, no infections, no malware, I have reset the IP connection (netsh), winsock, firewall is fine (tried turning it off), virus protection is not interfering (tried turning that off), changed the DNS, all OTHER websites are working.  Just Comcast.

This is happening in both Edge and Chrome (Firefox is not installed).

I would think it was a Comcast issue BUT I can access the Comcast login screen on other machines on the same network with the same DNS.

The main Comcast page loads and works fine.  But when I attempt to "sign-in" or click on the email icon I receive:

===============
This site can’t be reached
oauth.xfinity.com unexpectedly closed the connection.
ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED
===============

After a long delay.

Other thoughts?

Thanks.

Hi Adam,

Sounds like a very annoying issue! Given all the other computers access it fine, we have to assume it's the lone PC with the issue and not the Comcast site.  Also given it's happening in multiple browsers on the pc would rule out the browser itself and lend itself to more a hardware / driver issue with that computer.  I'm thinking a network hardware issue given the connection was unexpectedly closed (even though it says Comcast closed it).
How is the PC connected to the network? LAN or WiFi? If it is connected via LAN, disable that and connect on WiFi assuming you have it. If connected via WiFi then switch to LAN if possible.

Let me know how you go.

Cheers,
Rob

Thanks for the reply Rob.  :)

The only thing that gets me is all OTHER websites on that same lone PC work fine.  It is JUST the Comcast site and it is NOT the main Comcast site only AFTER you attempt to log into your account.

Something is not quite right with the authorization or TLS or something strange.

Setting the browser back to factory didn't change anything either.

Hmmm....

The network is also not the issue since everything else (internal and external) on the network works fine.

Again just this one site and ONLY after logging into the site (or attempting to login...)

Thanks.
Hi Adam,

I definitely understand we're you're coming from but we have to start somewhere... can you humor me and just try and different type of connection, just to rule it out?

I'll have a think about the other stuff you've mentioned while you give that a go.

Cheers
Rob
I'm also thinking it could be a corrupt user profile? Have you tried logging in under another profile that you don't use on that PC?

In addition, possibly something with the Certificate Store on that PC.  Does checking the store work?
(at a command line)
certutil -viewstore

Thanks Rob.

I will see if that machine has Wifi on it, not positive.

Corrupt profile, I suppose....

Bad certificate store...hmm...interesting thought.

I cannot get on that machine for another couple hours (I have to wait until the client closes) but I will check it tonight and let you know.

Thanks. :)
hi Adam, just following up... did you get it solved?
