Can I have a "fillable" pdf file available to be downloaded from my website?

I'd like to know how to have a "fillable" pdf file on my website.

I need my customers to download the file, complete it, and send it back.

I assume I need to buy some kind of license from Adobe?  It's sortof like giving everybody access to Adobe Acrobat DC functionality for just that one file.

Or maybe, if that's either impossible or too expensive, an alternative solution might be just to share a Google Docs file?

Thanks

Yes, you can have a form field PDF hosted on your Website available for download without any extraneous permissions from Adobe. You will need to create the PDF form using one of their fuller featured (paid) Acrobat programs though (which it sounds like you may already have).

Your customers can use the free Acrobat Reader (or free PDF viewer of their choice) to complete and then save the form for transmission back to you.
