Download the free version of Malwarebytes (do not pay for it, the paid version piles more stuff into memory) and scan the computer.  Set the highest sensitivity level and choose all detection options.

Then download the freeversion of Spybot- Search and destroy and scan the computer.  Set the highest sensitivity level and choose all detection options.  Scan and immunize.

If the browser search page has been hijacked one of these should catch and remove it.

You an also manually set your search engine back by going to chrome://settings/search

Also while you are in settings, click on the extensions tab which takes you to chrome://extensions/ and remove everything except what is very important. Things like games and other non-essential extensions may be part of the issue.

Another option is to try resetting the browser. This is under "Settings - Advanced - near bottom of page".

Remove all extensions.

The next steps which typically works is to use Windows maleware removal tool.  Either the 32 bit tool or the 64 bit tool. Download, allow to make changes to your computer and run only the full scan, not the quick scan. It will take 2 to 5 hours to run and you can continue to work and just minimize the tool or throw it in a lower corner of your screen to keep working.

While that is running, you should also try Google's tool as well https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/2765944?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en
