hi,

I am not that zero knowledge on oracle as I have attend Oracle 11g workshop,  and also have more and more knowledge of Oracle like topology and theory as well as weakness of Oracle. I DO NOT have hands on setting up RAC, dataguard, ASM and replication on  Oracle,.

Now I want to get Oracle OCP, for example, for 19c, any kind of resource/URL/video/book you oracle expertise can suggest me to read to pass OCP as easy as possible ?

12c, 18c and 19c is the version of focus.

I prefer online video training, as it is easier for me.

how about the same thing for MySQL ? I want to get OCP for MySQL too and I have a lot of hands on experience on MySQL , like replication, InnodB cluster , but NOT NDB cluster yet!

Depending how much you want to spend.

You could try Linkedln training but you'll need to pay for annual premium membership for about £200.
You could try k21academy.com.

They're very good.

Need  to consider your budget and timeline.

Instructor-led courses at Oracle can be expensive, but you can make significant progress under expert tutelage.
Online, student-paced training is another option and many providers can offer courses tuned to OCP.

Personally, I prefer the textbooks, coupled with YouTube videos, and lots of practice exam questions. Oracle exams are notoriously difficult, but a solid grounding can get you quite far.

I have shelves full of Oracle Press texts which are good for learning and for future reference.

From an Online perspective, there are several noteworthy sites for picking up extra info -- AskTOM is great for specific questions... OracleBase.com is a fantastic resource -- especially if you are keen on learning new functionality as well as the basics.

Of course you can go straight to Oracle and enrol for training on demand, virtual classrooms or live instructor led classes.

Oracle documentation library, can also be very informative.

For the OCP, an Oracle Education class is a requirement so the point is moot.

True. But one course is likely to be insufficient for full preparedness... So the point stands.

It's been a few years since I took the OCP exam but remember the Admin OCP questions more or less coming from the Admin Education class.

slightwv,

this says  the 12c cert expire soon, right? so I focus on 19C, any URL for the 19c training.

"Admin Education class."

what is this and how can I take it ?

Richard,

"You could try k21academy.com."

take this already enough to take OCP 19c exam ?

jtrifts,

"OracleBase.com is a fantastic resource"

enough for me to pass the OCP 19c course ?

", virtual classrooms"

what is the URL for it?

https://education.oracle.com/live-virtual-class-training-online?

I don't believe they offer a 19c OCP yet.  Any training or certifications offered will be on Oracle Educations site.  What they have posted is what they offer.  There is nothing more I can offer.

You can use any other material you want to try and pass the OCP exam but you will still have to take at least one class from Oracle Education so might as well take the one that will help you pass it.

If you want to pay for additional education, that is up to you but I'm not aware of any boot-camp style training for Oracle certifications.

just have a workmate say a training center here train 19c and since 19c, it seems we do not need to do OCA before OCP, can do OCP directly.'

MUST attend class from Oracle itself ? third party training center is not possible ?

Oracle will eventually offer the 19c OCP so if you want to start studying for when they release it, go ahead.

>> it seems we do not need to do OCA before OCP, can do OCP directly.

I cannot say for sure.  I earnd mine MANY years ago when it was multiple tests to get the OCP so passing the first test or two already earned me the OCA by default.

I can only go with what is stated on the certification site now.

From the link I posted above:

Step1 - Prior Certification Requirements

Oracle Database 12cR2 Administration Certified Associate

>>MUST attend class from Oracle itself ? third party training center is not possible ?

I already posted the link that has the OCP requirements in my fist post:  #a42981596

I copied "Step 2" directly from that link.

Here is the text from "Step 2"
Courses can be instructor-led in-class (ILT), a live virtual class (LVC), training on demand (TOD), or Learning Subscription. Self-study courses (labeled as 'Self-Study'  in the course format) are great preparation tools, but do not fulfill the training requirement. Course must be delivered by Oracle University Training Center, Oracle Authorized Education Center, Oracle Authorized Partner Oracle Academy or Oracle Workforce Development Program.

If the 3rd party training meets those requirements, then it will count.  If not, then it won't.

I think this is all research you can do on your own.

I apologize.  Looks like they have changed certifications from what was posted previously:
https://www.oracle.com/a/ocom/docs/dc/ww-ou-5297-database2019-faq-3.pdf

There  is  no  longer  an  OCA  credential  awarded  for  Oracle  Database  Administrator  as  we  are  now  only  recognizing  the  full  skill  set  worthy  of  the  OCP  label.  This  skill  set  it  is  too  large  to  fit  into  one  exam.  The  skills tested in the second exam assume knowledge of SQL and the skills tested in the in the first exam

Is attendance in an Oracle University hands-on course a requirement to earn the OCP certification credential?

No.  The  requirement  for  a  new  candidate  to  earn  the   Oracle   Database   Administration   2019   Certified   Professional  is  to  pass  the  exams  Oracle  Database  Administration   I   |   1Z0-082   and   Oracle   Database   Administration II | 1Z0-083. Although training is not required, we very strongly rec-ommend  that  you  consider  training  when  preparing  for your exam. The chances of attaining the skills and knowledge required of an OCP DBA and of passing the exams  are  greatly  enhanced  by  completing  the  rele-vant training.

I think they moved away from version specific classes a while ago.  When you look at a specific class, you need to see what version they are covering.

I found some 19C stuff:
https://education.oracle.com/learning-paths/lPathCol_DB19_col_1

It appears there is a 2019 OCP:
