CSS Issues in Mozilla FireFox

CSS issues in Mozilla Firefox.  I am trying to get my page load speed up and I want to preload my CSS.  Apparently it loads sort of slow.  I am using the following that works great in Chrome but does not load the CSS in Mozilla.
<link rel="preload" href="<?php echo get_stylesheet_uri(); ?>" as="style" onload="this.rel = 'stylesheet'">
    <noscript><link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php echo get_stylesheet_uri(); ?>"></noscript>

Open in new window

But If I do the following it slows back down in Chrome:
<link rel="preload" href="<?php echo get_stylesheet_uri(); ?>" as="style" onload="this.rel = 'stylesheet'">
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php echo get_stylesheet_uri(); ?>">

Open in new window

The <noscript></noscript> does not seem to work in FireFox.  What do you suggest?

@julian.  80 / 20 rule?
The Pareto Rule

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto_principle

80% of the gain comes from 20% of the effort - after that you start spending progressively more effort for less gain.
