What would you recommend as a very robust firewall solution for small office
Hi,
We are looking for a wired firewall solution for our office.
High robustness is the most important requirement for our firewall solution.
There are features such as multiple VPN connections which are nice but not as important.
What would you recommend as a very good firewall solution for office with following requirements:
- Highly Robust solution
- For small office (less than 10 PCs)
- Secure remote connections to office PCs
- Secure Office 365 network connectivity
- Support our network internet speeds: last test got 37.7mb/s download, 38.4mb/s upload, 17ms latency

We are trying to decide between SonicWall SOHO 250 TotalSecure Advanced Edition and better products such as SonicWall TZ 350 and up.
I checked comparisons between SonicWall SOHO 250 and SonicWall TZ 350 and seem to only find differences in throughput and connections.
There is higher throughput in terms of things such as Firewall Inspection, Application Inpection, IPS and Anti-Malware Inspection for the SonicWall TZ 350 compared to SOHO 250.
1. Does this mean the speed in which the firewall device can process data or does it mean more security?
2. Does the SonicWall TZ 350 offer better robustness/ security than the SOHO 250 and if so, how do they compare in terms of security?
Thanks,
Robbie

What is the ISP connection?
If it is rated for 100Mb/100Mb then the number that is key is the full security suite enabled. It will be the lowest number.
Obviously, if the full security suite is enabled and throughput max is 50Mb then there is a need to step up in models to get to the 100Mb.

Hi,
Last test of network internet speed:
- 37.7mb/s download, 38.4mb/s upload, 17ms latency
The lowest for SOHO 250 throughput is for DPI SSL throughput at 50 Mbps.
Do the SonicWall firewall products improve in just higher throughput and connections or are there any extra security features?
Thanks,
Robbie

Hi,
We are thinking of going with the SonicWall TZ 350 TotalSecure Advanced Edition.
We would like to know if there is a Cisco firewall equivalent based on requirements mentioned before...i.e.
- Highly Robust solution
- For small office (less than 10 PCs)
- Secure remote connections to office PCs
- Secure Office 365 network connectivity
- Support our network internet speeds: last test got 37.7mb/s download, 38.4mb/s upload, 17ms latency
- Budget: Max €1200
Thanks,
Robbie

Cisco Firepower 1000 series would be the most likely candidates. Check for the unit most comparable to the TZ350 you're looking at. However, you're going to need to check how much the addons you want are really going to end up costing you.
Whether you go Sonicwall, Cisco, or many other brands, you're going to have some sort of continuing costs. (This ensures access to some of the added features, plus access to firmware upgrades).

Sonicwall is a lower left quadrant player. They're main selling point is "cheaper than the other guys".
Check out Fortinet's fortigate - for the speeds you are noting, check into either a 60e or 80e. They will meet your noted needs and budget with the added advantage of additionaly next gen/UTM capabilities.
or any similar utm appliance
