Good day,

My ESXI 6.0 host is in lock down mode.  I can only access the DCUI with my root user.
The lockdown mode option is greyed out.

Any advise for a work around?

HI Jean

Can you please try this

  • Log directly into the ESXi host.
  • Open the DCUI on the host.
  • Press F2 for System Customization.
  • Disable lockdown mode by toggling the Configure Lockdown Mode setting.

If the DCUI shows that Configure Lockdown Mode is greyed out, the DCUI user permissions may be missing from the host.

  • Log into the host directly using the vSphere Client.
  • Click the Permissions tab.
  • Right-click anywhere on the blank part of the screen and click Add Permission.
  • Add the dcui user and select Administrator for the Assigned Role.
  • Click OK.

Hi PV,

The Configure Lockdown Mode is greyed out.  I don't have login access to vSphere.

I can log into DCUI with my root user, but my root user cannot log into vSphere or EsXI shell.

I have restarted it a few times with no luck.

Is there a way to re-install esxi 6.0 to overwrite the lockdown settings but also not lose the VM's?

Hi,

I couldn't do the upgrade, but did an install with preserving the datastores.  Everything is intact after registering the VM's again.  Thank you so much for your assistance
