Exchange Migration

Hi,

I’m about to start an Exchange 2010 to Office 365 migration, all of the setup with AAD connect etc is in place.

I have around 1900 mailboxes to migrate, I would like to manage the migration is small batches, what is the best way to determine which mailboxes to migrate together, does anyone have any scripts available to help?

Thanks,

Hello Alex!,

Welcome to EE!

I don't think you'd need a script to make it work.

What you can do is to use the Exchange Deployment assistant

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/exchange-deployment-assistant?view=exchserver-2019

you give your answers and it will give you a recommended route to migration.

Either way, you should have the latest version on exchange 2010 sp3 and have the Azure AD to get the accounts added to Azure AD.
Then run the hybrid deployment follow the steps and continue.

Usually, the batches that you use or the mailboxes are a same account or more or less the same amount of data per batch, let's say something like 10 Gb or 5 Gb you name it and then work in that direction.

A useful cmdlet  would be

Get-Mailbox | Get-MailboxStatistics | sort-object TotalItemSize -descending | ConvertTo-Csv -NoTypeInformation | out-file $env:userprofile\desktop\file.csv

And open it on excel to plan your mailboxes
