When I try to set up Outlook in Office 365, I get error messages.   It seems to default to IMAP instead of POP.

Are you using a custom domain or just the default .onmicrosoft.com tenant domain?

Hi there! :)

You may refer to this guide on how to change it to POP instead. You may need help from your Admin to fill in the account settings.

Would be surprised if they are using POP e-mail when connecting to Office 365. Is it Outlook.com you are trying to connect to or a personal account?

Microsoft, by trying to make the process fully automated, has made configuring Outlook more difficult, in my opinion.  I find I have to setup IMAP/POP3 accounts by using the Windows Control Panel - Mail (Microsoft Outlook...).  Configure via that and you should get the classic setup options and be able to configure as you need.  Indeed, I'd probably delete whatever profile you initially setup and then without opening outlook, go to the control panel and set it up there.  THEN open outlook only after mail has been configured.
Thank you.
