I can't seem to find the high level process to rebuild an ESXi host when in a vCenter cluster with vDS. I don't have time to lab it so thanks in advance.<br />

Should I disconnect or remove the host first? When I add the rebuilt host back into the cluster, should I apply a host profile or just add it back to the vDS or is it going to make me migrate all the local vmkernals from the vss to the vDS again? Additionally, can I just backup the hostsvc/firmware/b;ackup_c<wbr />onfig file and restore it on the rebuilt host instead of using a host profile if I go that route?

Rebuild ESXi host in a cluster with vDS process

VMware, a software company founded in 1998,  was one of the first commercially successful companies to offer x86 virtualization. The storage company EMC purchased VMware in 1994. Dell Technologies acquired EMC in 2016. VMware’s parent company is now Dell Technologies.

VMware has many software products that run on desktops, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS, which allows the virtualizing of the x86 architecture.  Its enterprise software hypervisor for servers, VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi), is a bare-metal hypervisor that runs directly on the server hardware and does not require an additional underlying operating system.
