Licences for Windows Server 2019

Hello.....

I have a production enviromnent wiht 3 ESX hosts "3 physical servers". In one of my VM hosts I want to install Windows server 2019. My question is : how many licences I need to install one Windows server 2019?

Simple really, even if it resides on virtual infrastructure it's still a single machine. As such, requires 1 licence.

You need a full 16-Core-License plus additional Core packs if there are more cores available, and you need it for each physical host it can reside on with vMotion. If you can move the VM only manually between hosts, a (IIRC) 90 days window between changes needs to be kept to only require a "single" license.

There is a calculator there, put in the details of one of your hosts, you don't need to put in all of your hosts, you'll just end up over spending, I'm assuming they are all the same spec (Or should be) so one would be fine.

As stated, if the VM can be moved around (you cannot really tell on which VM host it runs) you need licenses for all. If you limit the VM to run on a single host, you need only 1 set of licenses, but then you do not have load balancing or automated failover.
