HP Envy cannot find the hard drive

I have an HP Envy 360x convertible 15m-cn0011dx and when it is sitting idle it gets the error it cannot find the hard drive.   4 times I have tried the Hard Reset instructions to hold down the power button for 15 seconds to clear the memory but it does not work.

I have been unable to find any other solution.

Hopefully, someone on EE has an answer

So when it goes into sleep or hibernation then it cannot find the drive, right? Or just for no reason with running Windows but no application - will it say that drive cannot be found?
the drive is a 128 GB M.2 SSD  .. Kinda small.. it may have come unseated or failing.. if still under warranty contact hp support

I'm not sure if it happens when it goes into hibernation mode but all of a sudden the message appears on the screen that it cannot find the hard drive you need to install the OS. Unfortunately the warranty expired a few days ago. When I turn it off let it sit for a couple minutes to turn it back on it always starts back up. It can find the hard drive every time it just happens when it's sitting there
So when it says that it cannot find the drive the Windows is actually running and working, right?
If yes then go into Windows Disk Management (right click on Computer - Manage  - Disk Management) and see if you have there your internal drive.
I did that and it shows the drive is healthy
Can you take a screenshot of Windows Disk Management and post it here? Take it when you get that error.
Go to Even Viewer and see which drive it is referring to.
I cannot post it when I get the error because it is at a DOS screen.   I'll check event viewer.
Means you you cannot go to Windows Disk Manager?
All that is in event viewer is "Dump file creation failed due to error during dump" and "the previous system shutdown was unexpected"
I can only get to Disk Management when it is running.   It shows all disks as healthy.   Drive C has 166 gb free.
Sounds to be a real problem with the drive if dump creation fails.
Can you go into System Advanced Settings and change the behavior by system failure to "generate minidump"?
ok, I did that.   Do you know any other way to do the hard reset?    This does not work.

For most notebook PCs, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to reset.

Alt+F4 won't work as well? Usually holding a power button should turn it off.
I am fine with replacing it, however, I cannot find the exact instructions to remove the cover.   Can you help?

It is an Envy 360x Convertible 15m-cn0011dx.  It only has 1 screw on the back.   I thought there might be more under the strip but when I tried to peel it off it looks like it is just a strip to keep it steady on the desk.

i agree with serialband stop messing with it the drive is starting to fail or it may be unseating and when it get hot enough inside the case it loses the connection. Try reseating the drive. If reseating the drive does not resolve the problem the drive is failing you need to back up data as soon asap before it totally dies and you lose your data.
Thanks.   I'll work on it later
thanks
