Does Remote Office Require Firewall Appliance

We are setting up a remote office with a FIOS internet connection.  Remote office users will connect to the main office using VPN.  Do you think I will need a firewall appliance at the remote office location?  I'm not sure it is necessary since users work from home and connect to the office using VPN and they do not have firewalls at home.

Thanks,
cja

It seems to me it's an administrative decision, as you stated they connect via vpn. Hard to tell but if it were me evaluating it I'd take into consideration how many users will be at the remote location and the future plans for that location as well.
A firewall for sure. Fios is direct internet and you need a NAT device to use it. Most firewalls can do site to site vpn.

I guess my question is that these users also work from home connecting through VPN, and they do not have a firewall appliance in place at home.

Isn't the VPN tunnel from their laptop to the office firewall secure?  How would connecting from the remote office be any different?

Thanks,
