Only most recent 2019 machines provide 2TB.

Previous machines support 1TB... for many years...

All Macbook Pro machines have Thunderbolt connections, no HDMI.

So you'll purchase a Thunderbolt -> HTDMI convertor.

Q3: *** this question is crucial ***

Yes. You can use Quicktime for this + better to purchase a copy of ScreenFlow, which to me is the best audio/video capture software ever written.

You will never use capture software for this. Capture software is the wrong tool for the job.

You'll use https://ytdl-org.github.io/youtube-dl/index.html which allows capturing exact video instance you prefer.

Instance means each YouTube video has many videos associated with a single Video URL/slug.

For example, here's how to capture the highest quality .mp4 along with all related multilingual audio tracks along with all text stream subtitles.

Note: Whether or not this works for your specific video, you'll just have to test, as YouTube has varied formats related to multilingual audios + subtitles many times over the years. If you use a tool like youtube-dl you'll have the best chance of capture all audio + subtitle tracks.

Is that the Thunderbolt or the Displayport connection?
On my girl's Macbook 13" (2012 edition), looks like Displayport that
Thinkpad x240 uses

Btw, does Thunderbolt (or Displayport) outputs sound/audio by default to
TV if  we use an adaptor or we need to do some configuration?
Macs have Thunderbolt connectors which includes displayport support.  You just need an adapter.

The old Macs used a Thunderbolt 2 connector which is the same shape and configuration as a Mini DisplayPort jack.  The new Macs use a Thunderbolt 3 connection which supports USB-C connections as well.

Thunderbolt supports more bandwith than the matching connectors they used, so you need a Thunderbolt 2 cable or adapter if you want to support more than just Displayport and a Thunderbolt 3 cable or adapter if you want to support more than just USB-C.
