Problem with root password on host outside of local console access

Good morning,

I created a new VCSA from the latest iso available from Vmware.  That went well, then tried to add a test host I am working with.   Couldn't add it: password issue.
Used the same password to log in to the physical console multiple times, going back and forth.  Changed it to a different one, no difference.  Rebooted the host.  No difference.  Same issue with putty and WinSCP.

Could it have locked out the root account??

VCSA is on 6.7, host is at 6.0.

So you cannot login to a ESXi 6.7 host with a password issue ?

Re-install the host, (or hack the password)

What's odd on this one is I can log in successfully from the host's console with that same password.  That leads me to believe it isn't a pw issue.

I'll reset this host to the default configuration and reconfigure it.

Resetting to default configuration and re-defining it did the trick.  Thanks Andrew!
