When I log in to the VCSA I'm now getting a popup window asking to "Please start the VMware Cip message Proxy Service".  I installed their enhanced authentication plugin a little while ago.

Looking at the services available, the only ones I see are:
  1. VMware Alias Manager and Ticket service
  2. VMware CAF AMQP Communication Service
  3. VMware CAF Management Agent Service
  4. VMware Snapshot Provider
  5. VMware Tools

Only #1 and #5 are running.   To make sure something hadn't tanked I reinstalled the authentication plugin.  No change.  I'm signing on to the VCSA (6.7) with Firefox.  I see no plugins from VMware in the list within Firefox.  ?

Agreed.  What installs it?  I installed the EAP from VMware-EnhancedAuthenticationPlugin-6.7.0.exe recently but not sure if that has anything to do with it.

It's installed by the plugin installer.

Huh.  Removed/reinstalled it again, making sure I ran it as Administrator.  Service still didn't appear.
And it shows in the list of installed programs (vsn 6.7.04882)
I don't have to reboot, do I?

No change.  Service didn't show up.  Is it a requirement or just a convenience to have that plug-in?

No requirement for it!

I'm not completely sure what it does for a living; installed it due to the suggestion at the bottom of the login screen.

ROTFL!

The Enhanced Authentication Plug-in provides Integrated Windows Authentication and Windows-based smart card functionality.

and it causes more problems than it's worth just to have you type

DOMAIN NAME{optional}\USERNAME and passord in the login box!

That's....all it does?  Sigh.  Agreed.

Thanks Andrew.
