Hi,

I need to install SQL 2012 Service Pack 4 (we are currently on Sevice Pack1) but before I do I just wanted to see if it could have any impact on any of the Databases.

Are you able to go straight to SP4 from SP1 and does it change anything within the DB tables that could have an impact?

I've tried to find some articles online for this but information is scarce!

Hi,
Of course, there it's always a risk, depending on how the supporting SQL Server entities are used on your solution. Normally, an SP is intended to fix some problems related to the product, not to introduce changes.

I've upgraded SQL Server 2012 SP1/SP2 to SP4 recently across several DB Servers but haven't encountered any problems..
So, you should be safe to go..

No, there shouldn't be any changes to user databases and any metadata related changes will happen to the system database called resource database and not to the user databases..
