Start with WordPress getting this to work with various plugins, till you find an organization of posts you like.

Then... wow... you'll redevelop the entire parts of the WordPress framework tying comments together into content, then redevelop the plugin code...

Hopefully you have lots of time + a large budget for this project.

If not, just use WordPress + a plugin, so you're up + running in a few minutes.

Glad you got this working!

You might go through some of the WordPress comment management systems cloning out useful code like...

1) Session management (if commenter verification is important to you).

2) Blocking comment spam (if SEO is important to you).

The WordPress plugin AntiSpam Bee provides a good example of how to ban comment spam at the Kernel level, rather than running the entire LAMP stack, as comment span handled by the LAMP Stack can easily be crafted into comment spam attacks to take down machines.

Aside: If you're committed to ruin comment spammers life, use the AntiSpam Bee logic + Fail2Ban + iptables Tarpitting, which allows garden variety machines to take down entire Bot Farms, when Bot Farms attack... all with no measurable resource usage on the machine under attack.

I always smile a little when logs show a $100/month USD machine has taken down a Bot Farm of 1000s of machines.

A great feeling knowing a Bot Farm is down, rather than attacking less protected sites.
