Linux install openssl/squashfs

snyderkv used Ask the Experts™
I installed SUSE Enterprise 11 just so I can extract drivers from an ISO file using special commands from the ISO itself. The pre-requisites are openssl and squashfs-tools to be installed which I'm having issues with since I never installed anything on linux before. Both are copied to my desktop openssl 1.02 and squashfs-tools-4.3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz and txz.

Here's an error I get without the pre-reqs:
~/Desktop/ucs-c220-huu-3.0.4l/GETFW> ./getfw -s /home/myname/Desktop/ucs-c220-huu-3.0.4l.iso -d /tmp/
Error: Extraction Failed

I also get an error installing openssl when at the "make" line
  tar -xvzf openssl-1.0.1g.tar.gz
  cd openssl-1.0.1g
  ./config --prefix=/usr/
  sudo make install

Makefile:287: recipe for target 'build_crypto' failed
make: *** [build_crypto] Error 1
And not sure how to install squash either.

Thanks in advance

Tip: Install the packages rather than building from source...

zypper in openssl squashfs-tools

If you must build from source, this is a long process.

Refer to to build openssl.

Refer to to build mksquashfs (used to unsquash squashfs .iso files).

Thanks man I'll go with that.

You're welcome!

Yep. Go the easy way... Installing packages is far easier than building from source.
