Hi,

I have a virtual machine in Hyper-V server. It has a hard drive under IDE controller which is OS.
Then I added a vhdx file to this VM under SCSI controller.
I have another vhdx file that I like attach to this VM. I see [Add] button in both IDE and SCSI controller sections.
Where should I add this additional vhdx file and why?

Thanks.

You can try IDE but it can not work.
I did it before on SCSI and if you don't want them on same channel just go to Add Hardware and Add another SCSI controller, then select VHDX disk under SCSI properties.

OK. I will add it to SCSI controller and report back.

you can have a maximum of 4 IDE drives in a VM.  In Gen1 VMs, I use one for the OS drive and then EVERYTHING ELSE (other than virtual DVD) goes on SCSI (you can have dozens of VHDx file attached!)
