Windows 10 Mail People shows {necid: ########}

A client called today saying some of their contacts have started showing up with strange information.  Only showing the "necid" and long string of characters.  They are using Windows 10 mail, which we do not support or use (ever).  She cannot delete the bad contacts.  I am attempting repairs on the OS with SFC, DISM, and CHKDSK in hopes of repairing the Mail error 0x80072ee7.  These contacts do not appear in the webmail contacts.  She said that program has been behaving poorly for months, and just now showing the "necid".  She was setup on Outlook, and has been instructed to return to using that program.  However, if possible... I need to recover contacts she created in Mail.
