Computer screen turns off

A friend had me set their computer to go into sleep mode or (?) after 2 hours. He says it's going off after 5 minutes. I am not there to see what he sees. This is a Dell Windows 7 system.
What modes are there beside sleep? I think the screen saver may have been sent to 2 hours, not sure. Thanks.

Yes screen saver is an option, if the choice is for none, in the form of the screen saver, the screen will go black.

under the power option control panel as well as on the display property (screen saver settings)

Not sure as I am not able to visit the persons house any time I want. It could be next week before I get over there. I sent them everything posted here for their information. I think I changed the screen saver for them to 2 hours. Some other setting, if they are correct, is causing a 5 minute interruption.
Is this a laptop or a desktop?

Desktop Windows 7 with Windows 10 update disc and Dell the manufacturer. And Dell offers him "things" to check mark or click on and he'd like to stop those alerts as well. I can ask that in another question.
notifications can be disabled, but not sure of which you mean or from which app they appear.
chrome has its own notification process that appers .....

dell has their own power plan so not sure which plan you are modifiying versus which one is in control.

you might have been editing different plan options, while the plan that is being enforced is not the one you are changing.
