For years I've been doing system image/restore in windows 7 easily.  In windows 10 you can do a system image called Backup and Restore (windows 7).  I can create a system image there, but it is unclear how to restore that image in windows 10.  I've googled and the result instructions are either fuzzy or lead to screens that have changed.  Thanks in advance, John Bridges

There is no difference to the process of windows 7. Where are you stuck?
You would boot setup and restore that image from there ("Repair my computer").

use clonezilla to clone the whole windows to an external hd

you are given the option to create recovery media.. use it if the device has non standard hard drive connections or network drivers or you can use any install media and the recovery options (vs install options) to restore from local/network
