big delay while receiving emails

hi,
got 2013 exchange admin centre for emails.
when i send emails out- outgoing emails are instant.

but when i receive emails , there is a big delay or sometimes i dont receive email at all.
how do i check it or find it ? from do i begin troubleshooting ?
i suspect its something to do with receive connectors in 2013 exchange admin centre ? but need some ideas or directions

For the emails that you do receive, you can look at the email headers to see where the delay is during receiving.   If you don't know how to read it, you can paste the header into mxtoolbox and it will analyze it for you.  https://mxtoolbox.com/EmailHeaders.aspx
