One Note Notebook Name is Not Syncing with One Drive

I would like someone to show me the proper method on how to rename a One Note Notebook and make sure that the new name changes as well in my Documents One Note Notebook folder as well as in One Drive. The way I know of is to change the name in my Documents of the One Note Notebook then go to that Notebook click File-Open-Browse-Then Open and the new name was changed. But when I went to One Drive the name was not changed!!!

Thank you,

What you should do is create the notebook on your one drive folder to start with otherwise you can move it to your one drive.

Thank you for your reply. I usually create a Notebook first on my computer and then if I need to move it to one drive I will do that when I need to. My question was pertaining to the existing One Note Notebooks that I already have on my PC and I needed to change a name then I want to make sure the name change applies to the 1.One Note Notebook Folder in my DOCUMENTS, 2.The One Drive . The One Note Notebook that I use is located in the task bar for ease of ease. So just to be CLEAR on my question, where do I initiate the name change? in the task bar One Note Notebook{I did that one time and it did not change the name in my One Note Notebook folder in my Documents. I don't know if it changed it in one drive too}.

Thank you,

I am not sure what you mean by that. Are you referring to the desktop app?

where do I initiate the name change?
On the desktop app, I click on the top left notebooks icon. It defaults to open up the current notebook and when I click on it all notebooks appear.  I can right click on a notebook and select nickname. That will allow me to change the name for the desktop app only. If you select, "copy link" then go to the web, you will see the name didn't change.

To change the name on the web, you have to change the folder name in onedrive . I just did a test of my own following those directions and it worked.

Hopefully I have it right for you this time.
Hi Scott
1.See screen capture for task bar location-Shortcut. I guess that's what it is called.
2.I do not have an One Note Notebook app on my desktop or any where else.
3.When you say you go to the web. Do you mean, going to One Drive App from the task bar then right clicking on it and choose View Online.
4.Lastly, When you say to change the name on the web. You have to change the folder's name in one drive. Are you referring to the One Note Notebook as the folder?

Thank you,
Basem Khawaja

I am sorry but I am still not clear on something. Assuming that I do not have a One Note Notebook on one drive. It is only on my PC and I wanted to change the name on the One Note Notebook on my PC ONLY {or the APP}but I want to make sure that the change is reflected in my Documents in the One Note Notebook Folder. Can you please tell me how do I go about that. I appreciate all your help.
right click on the folder and select nickname and that is where you update the name. when I was trying to explain by changing the nickname locally it does not change the name online where it is synced if it is synced at all. The additional information I provided was for changing the name online or in one drive which is the same thing.
Thank you Scott.
