non-rooted Android app that limits charging

Just found a couple of Android charging apps that
prolong the phone's built-in battery but they either
require rooting or 3rd party battery:

Battery Charging Limit app:
https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/set-charging-limit-your-android-device-avoid-excess-battery-wear-0176280/

Chargie app with external pwr bank:
https://chargie.org/

However, I can't root my device as my corporate MDM will block it
while I find getting an external pwr bank rather unwieldy (besides
the cost).

Any other apps which don't require rooting or external hardware?

Found 2 apps that are not in Play Store, so how do I install them?
Download to a PC, use file manager to copy into phone & run
from the Android to install?

For apps not in the play store, if they are an APK you can download them directly to your Android device and open them in your File Viewer, you will be asked if you want to install what might be an insecure app.

Is there any way to verify if the apps are safe (ie don't have
malware nor malicious codes in it) to use?

If your phone is not rooted, the apps which you have found will not work as the function of such apps depends on changes to the system files of the Android OS.

Besides, it is against the best practice to install apk files instead of downloading the apps of Google Play Store.
