VERY STRANGE DNS ISSUE...I THINK

configured a new global set of IPs (for failover purpose) for my corporate iphones to sync their mail through. we use airwatch as our MDM solution. we have our european and US ips load balanced using netscalers.

The problem is when we have our phones connected to an outside network such as Verizon it works perfectly but when i am connected to an internal network such as my office or home network it does sync mail, it just hangs. As soon as i turn off the wireless on the iphone it syncs! Very very odd...

any ideas?

Check your internal network where its point to load balancer internal IP or external IP?

If its connecting to external IP from private network, it might be creating loop, so check if you can configure wireless network if it can connect to internal IP of load balancer and check
So when you are outside your network, you connect to some public DNS, and the DNS name you set up resolves to the expected  (public) IPs, and everything works.

But when you are on your corporate WiFi network, the connection fails - is that correct?

Could be DNS, could be a network/firewall issue.

Check DNS

From your phone, on the corporate WIFI, use an app to ping the mail server by DNS name (or from another device on the same WIFI, but best to do it from the same phone that gives you trouble).

Did the DNS name resolve to the expected address?

ASKER

it not only happens on my corporate wifi but also my home wifi. My coworker tried on his home network and it didn't work either. But when on Verizon cellular it works..
Are you usng airwatch SAS service or you have installed in your network?
