Experts out there, I hope you will shed light on MS exchange backup.
Backup software recommends to run a Backup at passive database in a DAG instead of a production DB.
I wonder how the backup truncates the logs at a production server when we run a backup at the server which hosts passive DBs.
I used to manage a standalone server and the backup truncate the logs after completion of the backup , but, it is a active db.

I'm using Veritas Backup Exec  20,5 and I'm doing Full Exchange backup every weekend and incremental Exchange backup everyday.
Because this software has enabled granular recovery option  I don;t need to care about logs. I can recover
1. Whole server or group of servers
2. Whole database or all databases

I evaluated rubrik backup. The backup uses an agent to call VSS. We performed the backup at the passive DBs and noticed the transaction logs have been truncated.
