Windows 10 workstations are not getting activated through KMS server
Hi

I have migrated all the workstations from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
On the network we have Windows 2012 server = 13 servers
Windows 2016 =4 Servers.
Windows 10 workstations 400

The windows 10 professional workstations are not getting activated. On the Right hand of all the desktops it says:
"Activate Windows
Go to settings to activate Windows"

On the KMS server I ran cd cscript slmgr.vbs /dli all
Please see the attached results and the Partial Product Key: 3YGXJ is the KMS key for Windows 2016.
Will this KMS key ending with 3YGXJ be sufficient to activate Windows 10

Or do I need to add Windows 10 KMS Key to a KMS Server.

Any help to resolve this will be great
Thanks

/dli [Activation ID | All]

Display license information.

By default, /dli displays the license information for the installed active Windows edition. Specifying the [Activation ID] parameter displays the license information for the specified edition associated with that Activation ID. Specifying [All] as the parameter will display all applicable installed products’ license information.

This operation does not require elevated privileges.

that means it needs the said product key ... if it's windows 10 it needs windows 10 KMS key

all the best

Hi,

You need to run the slmgr script on the W10 machine to see *its* activation status. And yes, if you want  to activate W10 you need a W10 key. You need the key for the OS you want to activate. Just use the command on 1 W10 machine with the W10 key to test it and if it works then add that key to your KMS server.

According to this link, a Server 2016 key activated on a KMS should activate Windows 10:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/server-2016-activation

Can you run slmgr /dlv and slmgr /dli against one of your Windows 10 workstations and post that?

Hi, The output clearly shows the OS is retail and does NOT match the KMS key. Use a retail key for KMS or the key for W10 PRo.

Retail key means, is that I need to use the KMS key for windows 10, I need to use?

Please post me the command to register the Windows 10 KMS key with KMS server.
Thanks

Active Directory (AD) is a Microsoft brand for identity-related capabilities. In the on-premises world, Windows Server AD provides a set of identity capabilities and services, and is hugely popular (88% of Fortune 1000 and 95% of enterprises use AD). This topic includes all things Active Directory including DNS, Group Policy, DFS, troubleshooting, ADFS, and all other topics under the Microsoft AD and identity umbrella.
