When I attempt to start Outlook that I bought with Office 2016 I only get a popup error that says Outlook.exe - Application Error. This application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142) Click OK to close the application.
I tried it twice with the same result. I then rebooted the computer. Same error. What is my next step to fix this problem?

No, I have not tried the Office Repair Tool because I had never heard about it. I do not have any idea where to get it or how to utilize any features it may have. I will try the safe mode soon and post the results.

Rather than risk making things possibly worse I just contacted Microsoft. The technician ran the repair for office and checked my Windows installation. She said all was fine but we still got the same error. She encourage me not to do anything else but to wait until tomorrow (!) to get a call from their level 2 technician. So, my hands are tied it appears till tomorrow. I can still try safe mode and see what happens. I can post after I speak to Microsoft. Until then they suggest I use webmail .

Additional information: Progress?? I am not sure, but change, yes. For the heck of it I closed all apps and rebooted multiple times. Upon each reboot I did not open anything. After the third reboot I tried Outlook and it IS working it seems.I have no idea what the problem was or is. I will consult with Microsoft on Monday and see what they recommend. For now I think I should close this question and post updates if anything happens "news worthy". THANKS EXPERTS!!
