Alex I went into the controller and all I see is the original disk 0
maybe I'm in the wrong area of the PERC manager?

go across to PD Management which is Physcial Disk Management. See if you can see your new drive there.

You have a raid 0 stripe.
While booted, install Dell openmanage node administrators. This will provide you access to the storage h310 and as noted makes it simpler to view physical disks and then create a new logical volume with the new drive as a solitary member.
If you got an h310 raid controller, mirrored setup would have been my thought.

Thanks Arnold I'll try Open Manager later today
OpenManage Server Administrator likely won't install (at least to manage your system's hardware), as it is designed to run on Server OS's. Try LSI's MegaRAID utility instead to manage the disks/arrays from Windows.
PoweredgeTech is right. Rechecked dell's site, they are not making dell openmanage available for your system in the drivers and downloads
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/precision-t3600/drivers
you may have to go manually through the H310 bios add a new volume raid0 with the new disk you added as the sole member.
Then it should be presented to the OS.

diskmgmt.msc
You should see it in there, see if it's online to start, if not, online it, then initialize it, then format it.
If you don't see the drive there, create the disk within the BIOS on your PERC card and then do the above.
