Problems with Dell Optiplexes and Intel SSD drives
I asked this question about 3-4 years ago. At that time the death combo was a Dell Optiplex 3040 and a Intel SSD drive. The issue was that on occasion the computer would boot with a "hard drive not found" error. The fix was simply to power down the PC then turn it back on. I found a thread about Intel SSD drives doing that in Dell Laptops but no references to it happening in Dell Desktop.
As a little side note I have since ditched Intel SSD drives. They are pieces of junk but anyway.... today I had a customer call and the same thing happened to a Dell Optiplex 3070 (the most recent model) and you guessed it.... an Intel 540s Series SSD. So the problem with Dell Optiplexes and Intel SSDs still exists. Has anyone else come across it yet and is there a fix?

We use the Intel SSD DC S3000 and S4000 series solid-state drives from them in all SATA applications and 700 series NVMe M.2 drives.
We've not had any issues with them in Dell Precision 7xxx and 5xxx series laptops, Intel NUCs, Gigabyte boards, ASRock boards, ASRock Rack boards, MSI boards, Intel Server Systems, and a few other odds and sods (we're system builders). We specifically request Intel SSDs/NVMe in our Dell server builds as well.

It isn't in servers. It isn't with enterprise SSDs. It is some weird combination of Dell Optiplex and Intel Consumer SSDs. The fix has always been the same. Take out the Intel SSD and use Samsung. The issue has never occurred with Samsung. I can't say enough bad about Intel SSD drives.
