Adding Google Ads in WordPress

Hi,

Can anyone give me a quick overview on how I can add Google Ads in WP, but also in general?

I know there a lot of plug ins, but can I filter out certain types of ads, like X-rated, and how do I get paid? Is it like monthly through PayPal?

Finally, can I add the Ads to a freshly-built site with no content.  I know the client will fill it up quickly. The website will be mostly in Macedonian using what I think its Unicode(?) characters (found under Language Settings --> Keyboards in most OSs), but some older content is using custom fonts that overwrite the Latin characters.

First sign up for Adwords with your Google Account. After signing up, you'll get the correct code. That code, you can insert anywhere on your site, in the footer, sidebar, etc, wherever you want.

Pay out has some rules, but usually, you are the one giving the pay out command, not a schedule. Please note, running a new site, without HEAVY traffic, will results in cents, probably not even 10 or 20 bucks for a full year of operation.

Likely what you're asking is the mechanics of displaying an Ad Unit on your site.

https://www.ampedsense.com/premium/ provides stellar features.

You can also search the WordPress repository for other alternatives.

2) I know there a lot of plug ins, but can I filter out certain types of ads, like X-rated...

You really have no say in Ad Units that display.

Displayed Ad Units will match your content, so you'll see Ad Units related to your writing.

3) and how do I get paid? Is it like monthly through PayPal?

Usually on a 60+ day cycle. Through a variety of mechanisms. PayPal is one.

4) Finally, can I add the Ads to a freshly-built site with no content.

Yes + you'll generate no income.

5) I know the client will fill it up quickly. The website will be mostly in Macedonian using what I think its Unicode(?) characters (found under Language Settings --> Keyboards in most OSs), but some older content is using custom fonts that overwrite the Latin characters.

This phrased as a statement, so there's no question to answer.

And if you're asking if non-English languages are handled correctly, the answer is yes.

Suggestion: Open another question asking about how to optimize Ad Unit revenues.

As there are some very crafty ways of boosting a few pennies/month/page to $1000s/month/page.

And this is best handled in a new question.

When you set up your ad, you can specify the types of ads to allow, or block.  So this is something you can customize.
