Migrate DHCP to 2019 core

Hi Experts,

I like to migrate my DHCP config to another server.
The old config is on Server 2012 R2
And my new Server is Windows 2019 Core.

Is this possible ?
Please can you show me the commands ?

It is possible, but I'm curious as to why you're using core for a DHCP server.

Export-DhcpServer -File C:\DHCPdata.xml -Leases -Force -ComputerName old.network.local –Verbose

and then

Import-DhcpServer -File C:\DHCPdata.xml -BackupPath C:\DHCP\ -Leases -ScopeOverwrite -Force -ComputerName new.network.local –Verbose

You're welcome my young Padawan, if you have any issues after the import I.E your scopes aren't dishing out IP addresses, you can export and re-import the scope on your 2019 server and it should then work as expected. The last time I had to do this was migrating from 2003 but that used a different database so this shouldn't be an issue.

Alex
