Can I sell my old IP office phones online?

I have inherited a couple company IP sisco phones. I am thinking about selling them as they still have a good used resale value.
Does anyone know if the serial numbers will be registered somewhere, that will cause me grief if I resell them?
Is a serial number necessary to setup the phone on a network? Should I remove the serial or is it needed?

Thanks so much.

Should be no issue whatsoever.

Just wipe them before disposing.

I'd leave the the serial numbers on.

Sure, you can sell them, as long as they belong to you (as opposed to leased.)

Just don't expect to get much money for them.  Getting rid of yours implies that a lot of other people are also getting rid of theirs, so that means both a) they're obsolescent or obsolete, and b) there's going to be a lot of them available on the used market.
I guess you already know that they have adequate market value or wouldn't have said so.

In my limited experience, it's the MAC address that gets used for configuring in some situations.  That shouldn't be a problem.
The serial number may or may not be available electronically - but the MAC address is.

I doubt that the serial number will be an issue as long as they belong to you.

Be sure that the phones are "reset to manufacturing" state or wiped .. so no numbers, account info etc are available anymore.

Provisioning happens mostly based on either IP or MAC address, the serial number will most probably also be in the ROM inside.

if IP address is used, the the DHCP server will hand your phone the IP address (in most cases).

There's always someone willing to buy. I've sold older digital phones to dealers. As mentioned previously by others, make sure to wipe your data off of the phones (factory resets, etc.)

My friend's company was upgrading their phone systems, and had box of these phones the were sending to recycling. My friend thought maybe we could sell them on Amazon or Ebay, because they still have value. My friend doesn't want to get into trouble with his company for selling them as the phones were supposed to be thrown out. This is the dilemma we are in. This is why we are worried about it.
Thanks so much

Here is the common issue, once it is in a trash, ownership is relinquished. If the owners, company directs for donating them, that is a different issue.
Recycling might provide some reimbursement to the company. Best to avoid issues check which the firm.
They would not want you to handle selling them for your own benefit while on the company clock.

They likely do not need the headache trying to sell..
