Removing references to non existent Exchange 2007 instances

I had this question after viewing How can I remove all references of an Exchange 2003 server from an Exchange 2007 organization?.
I am trying to erase/remove references to 2 old Exchange 2007 servers in an Exchange 2010 environment. While trying to install a new 2016 Exchange server, I am stopped at PrepareSchema with a warning that all 2007 Exchange servers must be upgraded to 2010 SP3. These are the long deleted Exchange servers which obviously no longer play a role in Email functionality. I have no recovery options of the old 2007 instances. Also when I run ADSIEDIT I do not have the same key structure (no services folder hence, no exchange folder) that I see referenced in the Exchange 2003 solution. Any help is appreciated.

The recommended way is to recover the server and uninstall.
If not possible please do a manual cleanup.

YOU CANNOT INSTALL EXCHANGE 2016 in coexistence with EXCHANGE 2007

That is what it is saying BRO.

You need to upgrade the exchange 2007 to exchange 2010 meaning you will have to go through 2 path migration i.e.

Migrate from exchange 2007 to exchange 2010 in coexistence setup, then

Migrate from exchange 2010 to exchange 2016.

OR you can

Setup exchange 2013 with exchange 2007 that will work, but not exchange 2016 sorry. Look at the below article for your reference.

The current environment is Exchange 2010. There are references to old, non-existent Exchange 2007 servers. I am trying to install a new Exchange 2016 server and then port over the 2010 instance. I just need to get this setup to forget about the old 2007 servers, they are long gone. Trying to run ADSI but I don't see the CN=Configuration or CN=Services keys. Maybe a rights issue? I am domain admin

Thank you for the insight. I was able to find and delete the server references.
