Windows Printer - creation of csv, pdf files

Does anyone know of a printer utility that when you select it as your printer, it will create a .csv or .pdf or .txt file of the data being sent to it.  Probably to a pdf so it is formatted properly.  I basically need to schedule some reports to print to this printer, so I can then take the files and run a script to import them into another application.

Hi Maverick,

There are many free PDF print drivers out there. Eight good ones are Bullzip, CutePDF Writer, doPDF, Foxit Reader PDF Printer (part of the Foxit Reader install), Nitro PDF Creator (part of the Nitro Reader install), PDFCreator, PDF-XChange Printer (part of the PDF-XChange Editor install), and PrimoPDF:

They have varying features and some folks prefer one over the other, so you may want to experiment to see which one you like the best. At one time CutePDF was my favorite, then it was doPDF, and my current choice is Bullzip. So I suggest trying Bullzip first to see if it works well for you; if not, try doPDF next; then the others until you find one that you like. All of them install a "printer" so that you can "print" to it from any Windows program. When you "print" to it, the print driver will create a PDF file.

Btw, if you have Adobe Acrobat (the full product, not just Adobe Reader), then you'll already have a PDF print driver called Adobe PDF. Regards, Joe

Thanks Joe.
I am using BullZip pdf.  Problem is I have a web application that when you go to schedule a report to print to BullZip PDF it is getting blocked.  I can't find any way around it.  Bullzip is a great piece of software though.
Btw, although PDF is the default, Bullzip can create other formats, including TXT (but not CSV):

Our messages crossed...I don't know why Bullzip is getting blocked...maybe one of the other packages that it requires is generating a false positive (Ghostscript, PDF Power Tool, Xpdf). In that case, I suggest trying doPDF. It has no third-party requirements (not even Ghostscript, which nearly all other PDF print drivers require). Regards, Joe
Thanks Joe.  I will try doPDF
OK, I'm curious how it goes for you. I've been liking it on my W10 systems, although I don't like the nag to buy novaPDF (but that's easy to ignore). Btw, although it doesn't require third-party products, it does require the .NET framework (version 4.6 or higher), which the installer will handle. Regards, Joe
On a linu/unix system filters on printers ...

Not sure how you envision what you are looking fir.

Joe. Provided reference to gostscript which in a windows environment ... the Csv is the complex how data provided would have to be reprocessed.
